Simon Littlewood has been a specialist orthodontist in the UK for over 25 years. He is currently head of department in the Orthodontic Department, St Luke’s Hospital, Bradford and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Leeds Dental Institute, University of Leeds. He is also co-Director of the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy Course. Along with Trevor Hodge he established the UK’s first Orthodontic Therapy Course in 2007 and has trained over 200 therapists. He is currently Honorary Secretary of the British Orthodontic Society and was previously their Director of Professional Development. He is Chair of Examiners for the Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery of Royal College of Surgeons and has previously held external examiner posts at University of Glasgow, University of Manchester, Trinity College Dublin and University of Sydney Australia.
Simon has published over 75 peer-review articles and book-chapters, appeared in educational videos and is co-author of the best-selling textbook, the 5th Edition of An Introduction to Orthodontics, published by Oxford University Press.
He has a particular interest in orthodontic retention and randomised controlled clinical trials. He has been invited to speak in over 35 countries and is well-known as an entertaining speaker who translates high quality research into clinically-relevant information.

L’orthodontie guidée par mini-implants fait aujourd’hui partie du savoir-faire nécessaire pour tout orthodontiste soucieux d’efficience thérapeutique sans dépendre de la coopération du patient. C’est une orthodontie au service des Objectifs Orthodontiques, qui s’affranchit des limites biomécaniques de l’orthodontie traditionnelle.
